Kitten beaten, then thrown in lake

A Donegal man has been fined €400 for killing a three-month-old kitten. Brendan Sweeney (26), from Crickamore, Dungloe, appeared before Judge John O'Donnell who referred to him as "a nasty piece of goods".
Outlining the evidence at Dungloe District Court yesterday, Garda Gerald Dalton said that on June 20th, 2005, he became aware of an incident involving a kitten in Loughanure, Annagry.
He said the owner of the kitten had heard from the "kids" in the house next door that her kitten had been killed the previous day. Garda Dalton called to the house next door and spoke to the sister of the accused, who confirmed Sweeney had killed the kitten.said he had "lost his head, grabbed the kitten and threw it to the ground a number of times with force. He then threw it into the lake." Sweeney's sister said she found the kitten later in the day. She told Garda Dalton it was dead and she buried it close to the lake.
On July 3rd, Sweeney gave a statement to Garda Dalton. He said he was from Crickamore in Dungloe and had a child who would be one in a week's time. He said he was going out with the child's mother and had been due to get married in a few weeks' time but had split up from her on June 17th.
He said that on the date of the incident he had gone to his sister's house between 4pm and 5pm.
He said there were students staying there and they were playing with a small kitten. Sweeney said he picked it up and carried it to the lake. He said it fell out of his hands a couple of times but he went to the lake behind his sister's house and threw it in.
Garda Dalton confirmed that the relationship was subsequently back on track and the couple were back together and had since married. Patrick Sweeney, defending, said his client regretted his actions very deeply.
Judge O'Donnell remarked: "He has revealed himself as a nasty piece of goods. Taking his anger out on a kitten and causing upset to the family next door."Garda Dalton stated that he was not aware of any apology which had been offered by the accused. Sweeney took the stand and apologised for his actions.

OK so I'm not a real blogger because I'm useless at blogging. I like reading the details of everyone else's lives but just can't be bothered to do my own. So , I've decided on a new direction. It has been suggested that I should blog my dreams. I have the MOST MENTAL dreams on earth, nah the universe. I should probably say at the outset that most of them involve killing of some sort e.g. I dreamt two friends of mine got married but this was followed by the Vietnam war and I dreamt that I once killed a little old lady by putting her in a washing machine (there was only bits of her left in the machine afterwards). Ro was quite worried after that one. You catch my drift. So to let other similar subconcious psychopaths know they are not alone, I shall blog those vivid dreams (though some may have to be censored). I'm also thinking of translating some of the dreams into film scripts since some of them would be fantatstic films, like the one I had which was a cross between Lord of the Rings and that Viking one years ago with Kirk Douglas. So to start, the last dreams I had were a bit of a mixture: one was that my brothers new girlfriend (the one in the dream was not his real girlfrien) told me we had to go to my mothers funeral. Only some time later realise my mother had not died. This was followed by a sci fi drama in which I killed people I couldn't see on the other side of the door with green dusty stuff and the people disappeared.....

well had the viva, not as bad as I thought it would be but I still wouldn't want to do to it again. My extern was tough but very nice - he used to play Aussie rules for his state in Oz so you wouldn't want to disagree with him too much! One of the other guys in my dept had his viva two weeks ago and his extern had a silver Olympic medal! ok, it was in sailing but still - overachievers! Have to make some changes to thesis this week and be done with it. Onto to other important news, feel a bit queazy this morning, may have something to do with the 4 bowls of rice krispies I ate last night while watching Chasing the Lions. The Apres Match crew did a great job impersonating George Hook and Pat Kenny. As for Hector, i don't know whether to admire his Irishness or be completely embarassed that he's irish, still he does seem to have no fear of humiliation, which I quite like

Edinburgh was great, definitely up there with New York and Barcelona as favourite places visited. Went to a Frankenstein themed restaraunt friday night followed by a ghost tour. led by a guy dressed up like draculaand had a freind who would frighten the crap out of people along the way and throw stuff at you. then for a drink in the dome, very fancy bar on georges street (the street where prince harry apparently parties). on saturday, did a tour of the queen's yacht, the britannia which was kinda cool. interesting how the queen and prince philip slept in separate rooms in single beds! roamed the shops and then went to a spanish restaurant. short but sweet.

Can't believe its a month since I last blogged, quite lazy of me. update for the month's activities: submitted thesis, had two days off, preparing for lectures, lecturing, preparing for lectures, moved office, have no PC, attempted house break while I was in the house, no use of dryer or access to bikes since housemate broke dryer and bike shed lock, housemates bought house, went home for the first time in I don't know how long, gaining weight due to lack of soccer and ronan's assembly line of food, going to edinburgh this weekend to visit a friend.....

SSMH are trying to kill my PC

hmm, was on maz's site yesterday and was terribly excited to see there were videos of the recent SSMH gig. I downloaded one of them, stuck my earphones in the computer and then it went all funny. In effect, my computer is now colour-blind and seems to only recognise some colours. Have no idea how to correct it. In any case, my PC is not quick enough for the video so I saw snippets of it but did manage to see O do a lot of headbanging! Didn't spot SSMH Fan Club reps for Areas 105 and 105, I hear they're hot...ouch

save the animals

Some disturbing information about the 'inner lives' of some families have come to my attention. People contradict themselves all the time but I have deep concern for poeple who, on the hand, love and take care of animals, and on the other take sadistic joy in killing them. Not just killing them, but killing them... slowly... so they can hear them scream. According to Envirolink's own Bill of Rights for Animals, "All animals are born with an equal claim on life and the same rights to existence". Worth noting is a Psychiatry and Mental Health Services - FAQ: How do I know if my child needs help? Apparently signs that a child has emotional problems include hurting or killing animals. Well haven't had a proper blog in a while so here's a synopsis of the last few weeks. Did first aid duty at JP McManus golf tournament, which was great fun. Became completely starstruck blubbering idiot. Got gary linerker's autograph and stalked Peter gallagher (the dad from the OC) for half a day but didn't get his. Woke up next morning totally sunburned even though it poured rain the day before. Face was in full peeling mode when in Budapest. Budapest was lovely as were the thermal baths and sauna park in the hotel. almost sick at airport from crazy taxi ride. Upset Ro when I broke it to him that Sabrina the Teenage Witch is actually 29, married and has a child so it looks like he's not in with a chance. Mad panic work on thesis in last few weeks, panic continuing. My brother 'passed out' yesterday as a garda. The Commissioner should think about public speaking skills and an indoor marhcing area since it was like the depths of winter there. Few drinks last night for Colm, who's getting married today. Nice to him so excited about it. Myself and L-man had deep philosophical discussion in pub on marriage, which included mormans, cults, incest and men with multiple wives, after which we toasted to Colm! T.B.C

Like downloaded a cool new program, Watersquirrel, suite (get it!). So fast, has tags an' shit, no lagging, and its incompatible with Word so it must be cool. Instead, it uses Digcast, which I'm gonna make everyone use. With the press of a key, it not only does all graphs and referencing, it rewrites your work so the more useless your paper is to begin with, the better. And when it thinks your trying to download internet explorer, it shuts down. yeah, it rocks

holidays

Back from holidays...moan. They were great. Sun, sand, pool and total overeating. Finding it very hard to come back down to normal portions of food. Usual breakfast I had in hotel consisted of cereal, juice, two croissants, a custard pastry and a ham and cheese sandwich. This morning I had weetabix and juice. Also experiencing some withdrawal symptoms from lack of chocolate. Highlights were the wedding, the waterpark with The Beast (30m vertical slide), driving with my little lobster within an inch of our lives through the mountains of majorca and the all you can eat dessert buffet...hmm
